The Salvation Army is one of the largest and oldest social service organizations in the world. We are located in over 123 different countries and are an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Our message is based on the Bible. Our ministry is motivated by the love of our God. Our mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and meet human needs in His name without discrimination.
Presently 18% of Lee County residents live in poverty. According to the Self-Sufficiency Standard, two adults must earn $31,732 per year to be self-sustaining. In Lee County, two adults living in poverty earn less than $16,240. Many of our friends and neighbors don’t have enough to eat. Each day, 67% of our school-age children receive free/reduced lunch and 15% of families are food insecure.
At The Salvation Army of Lee County, we fight poverty through programs and services that provide the resources necessary to become self-sufficient and productive members of our community.
